Donate to the Canadian Down Syndrome Society

Online Donations

Online donations are a quick and easy way to give. All online donations are eligible for tax receipts and personal information is kept strictly confidential. For more information refer to our Privacy Policy.

Donate Aeroplan Points

As a national organization, the Canadian Down Syndrome Society has high air travel costs. The volunteer board of directors and VATTA – Voices At The Table for Advocacy – come from coast to coast and meet face-to-face three times per year. Your donated Aeroplan Points will reduce the high cost of travel, allowing CDSS to focus more on resources, information and support.

Monthly Giving Donations

Monthly donations provide consistent financial support to the Canadian Down Syndrome Society, reducing our administrative costs, and giving your donation further impact and reach in supporting Canadians with Down syndrome and their families. Through our pre-authorized giving program, you can pledge your support on a monthly basis, receive a valuable tax receipt and incorporate your charitable giving into your monthly financial plan.

To arrange a monthly donation to CDSS, you can do so by selecting it on the online donation form or you can set up your recurring billing over the phone. Please call our office at 1-800-883-5608 or 403-270-8500 and a CDSS staff member would be happy to assist you.

Donations in Honor of Celebrations

What better way to “Celebrate Being” than to honour a loved one or recognize a special occasion by making a difference for Canadians with Down syndrome?

  • Celebrate the arrival of a new baby
  • Honour someone who is celebrating a special occasion such as a birthday, wedding or anniversary
  • Recognize someone special for all their hard work, or simply let them know they are appreciated
  • Tribute donations make great teacher appreciation gifts.

You will receive a tax receipt for your generous gift. CDSS will acknowledge your gift by sending your recipient an e-card or mailed card with your personal message.

Memorial Gift Donations

Remember a loved one by making a donation in his or her memory to the Canadian Down Syndrome Society. A memorial gift is a wonderful way to honour life, express sympathy and contribute to an important cause and help Canadian’s See The Ability. You will receive a tax receipt for your generous support and CDSS will acknowledge your thoughtful gift by sending a card or an e-card with your personal message to the bereaved family or recipient of your choice.

Wedding Celebration Donations

Celebrate your wedding by including the Canadian Down Syndrome Society in your special day.

  • In Lieu of Wedding Favours: Show your appreciation of guests and loved ones by making a donation to the Canadian Down Syndrome Society instead of purchasing wedding favours. CDSS can create personalized place cards for each guest or a single card for the centre of each table or guestbook, to let your guests know you of the gift you have made in their honour.
  • In Lieu of Wedding Gifts: For couples that are looking to contribute in other ways, ask your guests to make a donation to the Canadian Down Syndrome Society instead of purchasing wedding gifts. CDSS can create small cards to include in your wedding invitations acknowledging your generous request. Guests can conveniently make their donations online, by phone or by mail.

To coordinate a celebration or memorial gift, please contact us. You may also make your donation online.
